A risk assessment is not about creating large amounts of paperwork. It’s about creating a safe working environment through identifying hazards that have potential to cause harm; thus allowing for control measures to be put in place.
The Law requires every employer to carry out risk assessments
The current legislation that underpins risk assessment is the Health & Safety at Work Act of 1974.
